Events

Kihon (Basics) — Available to athletes ages 4-11

This event involves performing basic techniques (stepping forward jodan punch 4 times, stepping back rising block 4 times). This is a great event to showcase your karate basics, power, and spirit! If your athlete cannot yet perform a kata on their own, this is the suggested event for them.

Kata (Forms) — Available to athletes ages 6-16

Most students ages 6 and up compete in this event. It is an opportunity to display the student’s kata(s) that they work hard on in their karate classes.

Kumite (Sparring) — Available to athletes ages 6-16 

Recommended for students who have had experience in free sparring in the dojo. If you are unsure about participating, please speak to their instructor(s) before registering.
Required equipment:
  • Fist guards, any color — Free to borrow
  • Mouth guards — Purchase on your own
  • Team Kata (Synchronized Kata)

Team kata (synchronized forms) — Available to athletes ages 6-16

Perform a kata  with a 3-person team! Sensei Jay will organize teams, which may include mixed-gender groups. A great way to build teamwork, timing, and power.

Fees

  • $35 for 1 event
  • $50 for 2 events
  • $65 for 3 events
  • $70 for 4 events
