Getting Started
Begin your karate journey in 60-minute group classes designed for beginners of all fitness levels. Adults and youth (ages 6+) are welcome in our Chicago and Oak Park locations. Most beginner classes combine youth and adults—making them perfect for families who want to train together—with dedicated adult-only options also available.
Trial Class Opportunities
We offer special “trial class” opportunities for those interested in training at Enso Karate. For a $20 fee, we offer small group / semi-private introductions to karate during one of the following times. Participants should be adults or youth aged 6+ (Kinder Karate students must be 4 or 5 years old).

Don’t see a date that works? New trial slots are added for the first week of every month. If you already have Shotokan karate experience, get in touch with us so we can place you in the appropriate class.
Kinder Karate (Ages 4-5)
Our Kinder Karate classes introduce 4-5 year olds to karate at a fun, age-appropriate level, utilizing games and exercises that help develop strength, coordination, and balance as a foundation for further karate training. Learn more about Kinder Karate offerings.
Tuition Options
Basic: $110/month
Attend one class in our Chicago and Oak Park dojo locations per week, up to 5 classes per calendar month.
Standard: $165/month
Attend two classes per week in Chicago and Oak Park dojo locations, up to 10 classes per calendar month.
Unlimited: $190/month
Attend unlimited classes in Chicago and Oak Park dojo locations per calendar month.
Discounts and Policies
MONTHLY TUITION / MISSED CLASSES
Monthly tuition is paid for the whole calendar month. There are no refunds for missed classes/absences. Students may make-up a class within the same month by attending another class at the Chicago or Oak Park dojo location (appropriate for age and rank).
Enso tends to close for major holidays observed by most schools, as that’s often when families travel or relax. We are generally closed for about 1 week per quarter, and we encourage students to train more during the weeks before or after those holidays.
REFUNDS
There are no refunds after the start of classes. Payments must be made in full at the time of registration (in advance of classes).
AUTO-RENEW DISCOUNT
Continuing students may opt-in to “auto-renew” which provides a $5 discount on the monthly tuition when the payment is processed automatically on the first of the month. With this option, Enso will automatically re-enroll the student for the next month and charge the tuition fee with a credit card on file securely through our online system (scheduled for the first of the month). This is not a yearly contract; you can cancel at any time by sending an email to us at least 7 days before the 1st of the month.
FAMILY DISCOUNT
Students from the same household who are enrolled concurrently will each receive a $5 discount off their monthly fee. For households with four or more concurrently enrolled students, the family member with the lowest tuition option will receive a 100% discount on their monthly tuition. This 100% discount replaces the $5 family discount for that student.
COLLEGE STUDENT DISCOUNT
Full-time, enrolled college or university students can receive $30 off the monthly fee. Please show copy of current class schedule every quarter/semester. College discount may not be combined with the family discount or auto-renew discount.
