FREE Breakdancing Workshop!
Kid Jungle’s Breaking workshop on January 17, 2015 will introduce you The Art of Breaking (Hip Hop and Breakdancing) classes at Enso. The workshop will be held from 3:00 PM – 4:00 PM at our Chicago location.
Come learn some fun and energetic drills, basics, and concepts to prepare you to step into the world of Breakdancing. Open to adults and youth ages 7 and up.
A new session of classes starts on January 19, 2015. Registration details below.

Enso Dojo Tournament 2015

We are excited to host a friendly karate tournament that will be held in our Chicago dojo on Saturday, February 7, 2015.
We hope that you can join us for a great event that aims to help build healthy competition, good sportsmanship, and tournament experience. This tournament is open to all of our students, ages 4 and above.

DEADLINE
The registration deadline is Friday, January 30, 2015. Additionally, students interested in the Team Kata event must meet the “early registration deadline” of Friday, January 23, 2015.
Divisions and start times will be announced the week of the tournament.
EVENTS
Kinder Karate: Students ages 4-5 will compete by demonstrating their kihon (basic techniques). A great first tournament experience for the little ones! $20
Beginner Youth Kata and Kihon: Beginner students (white, yellow and orange — 10th kyu through 8th kyu) ages 6 and above will compete in two events — individual kata and kihon (basic techniques). $40
Intermediate/Advanced Youth Kata and Kumite: Intermediate/advanced youth (green belts and above — 7th kyu and higher) ages 6 and above and all adult students will compete in two events — individual kata and individual kumite (free sparring). A great opportunity to test your mental and physical skills. $40
Adult Kata and Kumite: All adult students will compete in two events — individual kata and individual kumite (free sparring). A great opportunity to test your mental and physical skills. $40
Team Kata Competition (Early Deadline: Jan. 23, 2015): Youth and adults may also compete in Team Kata. Youth students interested in team kata must register by the early deadline on Friday, January 23, 2015, after which Sensei Jay will form teams to be announced as soon as possible. Adults interested in team kata should form their own groups and submit a team roster to info@ensokarate.com. $5 per athlete.

Participation in Youth Team Kata is optional. Students should inform Sensei Jay if they wish to participate in the team event by January 23, 2015, and he will advise them on team assignments.

Belt Exams
Exam starts at 9:00 AM; arrival times vary according to rank
Belt exams for kyu ranks (below black belt) will be held on Saturday, March 14 , 2014 at the Chicago dojo. Eligibility list is sent to current students by email and posted at dojo.If you are eligible to test, please register by March 4, 2015. Prompt registration is appreciated so that we can properly plan and organize the test day.
If you are not testing, please remember that regularly scheduled karate classes are canceled on test day – but you can still come out to watch exams and support your classmates! Please contact us with any questions about testing. As always, all students and families are invited to watch our examinations for belt promotions.
Fee: $35
Tuition must be paid in order to take the test.Eligibility: Students who are on the eligibility list are permitted to take the exam.
Register: Students must pay and register by March 4, 2015 in order to be placed on the exam-day roster. Receipt of exam fee payment confirms your spot in the exam.

Women's Self-Defense Seminar

Beach Training 2015

Instead of our regularly scheduled Saturday classes, Enso students of all ages and ranks are invited to train at the 31st Street Beach starting at 9:30 a.m. Bring your families and friends along!We recommend planning to get there at 9:00 am or earlier so you have plenty of time to find parking, find the group, and roll up your gi pants! Paid parking is available near the beach.We will hold a group class for about one hour, then take some pictures. Stick around for as long as you like afterwards for fun at the beach! Please bring your own drinks and snacks.Beach training has been a great opportunity for us to enjoy the beautiful, summer weather without sacrificing time to practice karate. Plus, it’s a really cool photo-op!In the case of thunderstorms, classes will be held as usual in the downtown Chicago dojo. Please check our website and Facebook page by 8:30am. -

Adult Karate Retreat Weekend
Pheasant Run Resort in St. Charles, IL
This fun and stress-free weekend of karate training, exercise and bonding is designed for Enso’s adult karate students (all ranks aged 18+) and will be held at the Pheasant Run Resort in St. Charles. (Children to be lovingly left at home — with some supervision, we hope!)
Training
Sensei Saul Notario, Sensei Jay Nacu and Sensei Denise Nacu will teach classes from approximately 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (with breaks, of course!). The schedule will include conditioning, kumite drills, bunkai and weapons training for self defense, instructor training, and elective sessions including a women’s class. A final detailed schedule will be released closer to the retreat weekend.Fun!
There will be some organized group activities, including a meet-and-greet by the pool on Friday afternoon (check-in time is 4:00 p.m.), group dinners on Friday and Saturday nights, and possibly a group lunch on Sunday before heading home (check-out time is noon). The resort also offers a wide variety of amenities that we’re sure many will choose to utilize — two pools; volleyball, tennis, and basketball courts; a comedy club; and a spa, to name a few.Training Fee & Registration
