We hope everyone — youth and adults ages 4 and up — will consider joining us to represent Enso at this year’s Windy City Karate Tournament!Fee: $40 for 1 event, $75 for 2 events, $95 for 3 events, and $120 for 4 eventsNote: Students are responsible for forming their own teams for team kata, though please ask if you would like some help getting a team together.Registration: Registration forms can be downloaded here.

Black Belt Exam and Seminars!
Enso Karate will host a packed day of activities for our dojo community. For the students who will be testing for a black belt rank, this will be their opportunity to demonstrate their progress in front of judges, peers, family, and friends. We hope you will take part in the events of the day!Because of this once-a-year special event, regular karate classes will not be held on Saturday, July 21st. Instead of regular classes, we hope our current students will attend our karate seminars featuring our guest instructors; there is no fee for current students to attend these classes, which are a lot of fun and a great way to learn something new!9:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. Karate SeminarsWe will host two special karate seminars in the morning with our special guest instructors, Sensei Dwight Holley from Cincinnati, OH, and Sensei Morris Lawrence III from Ann Arbor, MI. Special Training Opportunity with Sensei Tatsuya Naka, 7th Dan

Friday & Saturday at JKA Hu Shin Kai dojo (3935 W. Irving Park Road, 2nd Floor, Chicago)
Enso is honored to co-host a special series of training sessions with JKA Hu Shin Kai Karate. The sessions will be led by Tatsuya Naka Sensei, 7th degree, one of the most renowned martial artists in Japan as well as a world-renowned instructor, coach, and competitor.
***Please Note: Enso will be hosting the first two days of sessions on Wednesday, August 1, and Thursday, August 2. In honor of this rare opportunity for all our students and for the Chicago karate community, we are canceling all regularly scheduled classes at both Chicago and Oak Park dojos on Aug. 1-2.***
About Tatsuya Naka Sensei: Tatsuya Naka Sensei is one of the most famous marital artists in Japan today. He holds 7th dan, and he is a full-time instructor at JKA HQ in Tokyo, Japan. After many years of competition and coaching for the Japan team in JKA Japan and Worlds, he continued to advance his martial arts by learning and collaborating with various martial artists. His knowledge is unprecedented, and his desire to continue advancing martial arts is inspiring so many people in the martial arts world. He also teaches at his dojo, Taishijuku, which is also located in Tokyo. He teaches about half of the time teaching literally all over the world.

Beach Training 2018
9:30 am31st Street Beach
Instead of our regularly scheduled Saturday classes, Enso students of all ages and ranks are invited to train at the 31st Street Beach starting at 9:30 a.m. Bring your families and friends along!We recommend planning to get there at 9:00 am or earlier so you have plenty of time to find parking, find the group, and roll up your gi pants! Paid parking is available near the beach.We will hold a group class for about one hour, then take some pictures. Stick around for as long as you like afterwards for fun at the beach! Please bring your own drinks and snacks.Beach training has been a great opportunity for us to enjoy the beautiful, summer weather without sacrificing time to practice karate. Plus, it’s a really cool photo-op!In the case of thunderstorms, classes will be held as usual in the downtown Chicago dojo. Please check our website and Facebook page by 8:30am. -

Summer Camp 2018
Chicago Dojo
Kids ages 5-12 will love our fun-filled camp which will be held this year from August 13-17, 2018. Open to current karate students as well as kids new to martial arts, this camp involves learning new skills; practicing basics, kata, and kumite; fitness games; and more.
Sensei Jay and his amazing team of instructors will keep all campers moving in a positive, social setting. The highlight is the “Camp Show” and Pizza Party on Friday to showcase their camp experience!
