Black Belt Practice Exam

The Black Belt Practice Exam is offered to those who qualify as potential candidates for the 2019 Black Belt Exam on July 20th. The event is open to supporters.
The Practice Exam will simulate the physical part of the Black Belt Exam. The purpose of this step is to give students the opportunity to not only experience a full-length exam, but also to receive feedback from a panel of sensei. This feedback will likely include a list of items that the candidates must work to improve before the next step in their black belt process.

Black Belt Qualification Exam

The Black Belt Qualification Exam is offered to those who qualify as potential candidates for the 2019 Black Belt Exam on July 20th. The event is open to supporters.
The Qualification Exam will include a simulated exam experience. At this stage, we will determine who is ready to proceed with the testing process in 2019. A large part of our criteria will be based on how much the student has improved since the initial Practice Exam on March 15. It’s possible that not every eligible candidate will qualify for the final exam on July 20.

Black Belt Exam and Seminars!

Enso Karate will host a packed day of activities for our dojo community. For the students who will be testing for a black belt rank, this will be their opportunity to demonstrate their progress in front of judges, peers, family, and friends. We hope you will take part in the events of the day!Because of this once-a-year special event, regular karate classes will not be held on Saturday, July 20th. Instead of regular classes, we hope our current students will attend our karate seminars featuring our guest instructors; there is no fee for current students to attend these classes, which are a lot of fun and a great way to learn something new!A more detailed schedule will be released closer to the exam date, but generally the day will flow as follows:- Morning: Special Seminars with guest instructors Sensei Dwight Holley of Cincinnati and Sensei Morris Lawrence of Ann Arbor.
- Afternoon (approximately 2-3 hours): The Exam
- Evening: Celebration Dinner

Summer Camp 2019

Kids ages 5-12 will love our fun-filled camp which will be held this year from August 12-16, 2019. Open to current karate students as well as kids new to martial arts, this camp involves learning new skills; practicing basics, kata, and kumite; fitness games; and more.
Sensei Jay and his amazing team of instructors will keep all campers moving in a positive, social setting. The highlight is the “Camp Show” and Pizza Party on Friday to showcase their camp experience!

Beach Training 2019

Instead of our regularly scheduled Saturday classes, Enso students of all ages and ranks are invited to train at the 31st Street Beach starting at 9:30 a.m. Bring your families and friends along!We recommend planning to get there at 9:00 am or earlier so you have plenty of time to find parking, find the group, and roll up your gi pants! Paid parking is available near the beach.We will hold a group class for about one hour, then take some pictures. Stick around for as long as you like afterwards for fun at the beach! Please bring your own drinks and snacks.Beach training has been a great opportunity for us to enjoy the beautiful, summer weather without sacrificing time to practice karate. Plus, it’s a really cool photo-op!In the case of thunderstorms, classes will be held as usual in the downtown Chicago dojo. Please check our website and Facebook page by 8:30am. -
