Karate Seminars with Sakura Kokumai

We are very excited to announce that Enso Karate will be hosting USA Karate Olympian Sakura Kokumai who will teach two karate seminars on Saturday, January 8, 2022.This event is open to interested karate students from all dojos and karate styles.Sakura Kokumai represented the United States at the Olympic Games which were held in Tokyo this past summer. You may remember that Sensei Kokumai visited us virtually in December 2020 to teach a class and answer some of our questions. It was a fun and inspirational event!You don’t want to miss this chance to meet and train with one of the best karate-ka in the United States and in the world. - 1:00 – 2:30 PM. Kata – Chatanyara Kushanku, open to Brown and Black belts only, all ages

Spring Break - No classes
Enso's Spring Break will be from March 16-19, when we will not hold any classes in Chicago, Oak Park, or online. We encourage students to take advantage of our flexible online and in-person schedules to attend additional classes during the other weeks of March. -

April Trial Class Opportunities!
In April 2022, we are offering a special “trial class” opportunity for those interested in training at Enso Karate. We don’t typically offer trials due to the time-intensive nature of running them, but we know there is increased interest in our new schedule and downtown Chicago facility. That’s why we’re offering this opportunity — for a $20 fee — to give Enso Karate a try for a full instructor-led class during one of the following times:
Chicago dojo- Fri. April 1, 5:30-:6:30pm
- Sat. April 2, 9:30am-10:30am
- Mon, April 3, 5:30-:6:30pm
- Fri. April 8, 5:30-:6:30pm
- Sat. April 9, 9:30am-10:30am
Oak Park dojo- Tue, April 5, 6-30-7:30pm
- Thu, Apri 7, 6:30-7:30pm
Participants should be adults or youth aged 6+, and they can wear comfortable workout clothes to the session. To register, create an account in our system and then pay for the trial class. Beach Training
Instead of our regularly scheduled Saturday classes, Enso students of all ages and ranks are invited to train at the 31st Street Beach starting at 9:30 a.m. Bring your families and friends along!We recommend planning to get there at 9:00 am or earlier so you have plenty of time to find parking, find the group, and roll up your gi pants! Paid parking is available near the beach.We will hold a group class for about one hour, then take some pictures. Stick around for as long as you like afterwards for fun at the beach! Please bring your own drinks and snacks.Beach training has been a great opportunity for us to enjoy the beautiful, summer weather without sacrificing time to practice karate. Plus, it’s a really cool photo-op!In the case of thunderstorms, classes will be held as usual in the downtown Chicago dojo. Please check our website and Facebook page by 8:30am. -

Cobra Kai Special Preview and Pizza Party

You are invited to a special screening of Season 5 Episode 1 and 2 of the Cobra Kai Netflix series on Wednesday, September 7 from 6:30-9:30pm. Enso Karate was especially selected as the Chicago dojo to host a preview. We’ll also have pizza!
This event is free for Enso Karate students but pre-registration is required by Tuesdya, September 7, 2022. You can pre-register using this link.
All ages are invited, though parents should use their discretion and may want to consult reviews of the series.
On Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2022, the 6:30pm and 7:30pm classes will be cancelled, and the 5:30pm class will be held for youth/adults all levels.

All adult karate students are welcome to join this social event! We have reserved three lanes to accommodate about 20 people, and spots are still open. Please RSVP by Thursday evening so we can confirm our final reservation.
The cost for 2-hour play time may vary depending on the number of people who join us, but we anticipate it being around $50/person to play. The cost of food and drinks will be on your own.
Enso student Candace Cham has graciously agreed to organize this event for us, so please reach out to her to RSVP and/or ask questions. Payments will also be made through Candace.

This is a great local event! No experience is required, and you do not have to be on Enso Elite Team to join us. This is a great opportunity to try out competition for the first time, or to stay fresh between competition seasons. Saturday will follow AAU rules, and Sunday will follow WKF rules.
